Slopes and Powder?

Ski boots? Should've packed trail shoes.

Though we've been enjoying touring in warmer weather through Germany, we were really hoping to find snow when we gained elevation in Austria. We arrived this afternoon at St. Johann to find nothing but green pastures. In decades of skiing, this is the first time we've seen grass on these slopes.

December and the End of 2011

After a very succesful 2011, but a rough finish, I spent December in much the same as any other year...skipping road running for the ski slopes.  Jennie and I once again visited with her mother in Europe, spending two weeks touring Germany and skiing Austria.

Off-Season Training (Germany & Austria)

I don't think street food qualifies as protein and carb-loading...but it tastes better than a bagel.

There's no numbered bib, but solo racing against the clock counts as training, right?

And it's always important to stay well-hydrated when training.

Nothing like a couple days at the Roman baths of Baden Baden, and the good food of Heidelberg, to rejuvenate the body.  This still counts as training...right?
